you have to look close to tell these aren't denim. what a great idea for potty-training age. jeans can be difficult for little ones to pull up themselves. think how cute these would be girlified with knitted or crocheted flowers that are so popular right now.

free pattern of the day...Crochet Potholder
In less than two weeks, my daughter moves into her college apartment. Each day I think of another thing she will need.
Today its POTHOLDERS! What kind of mom am i to send her off to school, one step away from burning her hands?! (even though she rarely cooks and has a meal card for the wonderful dining hall...I call it that because it sounds like something from harry potter instead of "cafeteria" which has a yucky sound to it).
Of course I quickly sat down and typed "hotpad" into google and guess what I realized? All these years I have been calling them the wrong name. Do you know there is a difference between hotpad and potholder? Well obviously there is. One is to sit hot pans on and the other is to hold hot pots.
This pattern from "the boring knitter" looks like a ton of fun, is simple and my picky daughter is sure to approve. I am going to go whip one up tonight and I will post my opinions and pix soon. In the meantime, try one for yourself.

free pattern of the day....racing flag blanket
I love this blanket! Someday I want a floor in my house like this. I am putting this at the very tip top of my "make for me" list!
From the creator: "My 4 year old son loves everything from trains to racecars and especially the new Disney movie "Cars". He loves the outdoors and we spend a lot of time outside. I wanted to make a picnic blanket for us, and more importantly, for him. This pattern is my version of a checkered race flag. It is simply crocheted squares of alternating black and white, sewn together at the end. I used worsted weight yarn, doubled, on a 10mm crochet hook.
